In Go Phonics, reading starts early on in Level 1 - Letters of the Alphabet. In the Go Phonics sequence, skills are applied to reading this volume of 8 decodable stories as soon as the 15th letter is taught. These are all short a stories. Why? Students are mastering the short a sound, and as they learn each of the consonant letters they gain reading accuracy with the beginning and ending sounds in a word. Level 2 - Short Vowels then gradually adds the different short vowels in the sequence: a, i, o, u, and e.
